Are any of these your lifelong aspirations? If those are truly your heart’s deepest desires, there’s nothing wrong with them. However, if they’re just your parents’, society’s dreams and not truly yours, you’ll either fail because there’s no genuine desire or in rare cases, succeed but be disillusioned and disappointed.

It’s quite difficult to get somewhere if you don’t know where you’re headed.  Yet a huge percentage of us have no plan.  We don’t really know where we’re going or how we will get there.  A plan is like a road map.  It tells you where you are and points you in a direction.  It helps you strategize how you will get from point A to point B.

Your life is the only life you can steer, and it’s a conundrum how many people give up the driver’s seat or don’t take the time to get to know themselves.  It’s important to know exactly what you want to achieve and the necessary time and resources it’ll take to manifest that achievement. With clarity comes concentrated effort and an ability to weed out diverting distractions. According to Edwin Locke’s famous goal-setting theory,  challenging and specific goals succeed more often than easy ones.

The more intensely we feel about an idea or a goal, the more assuredly the idea, buried deep in our subconscious, will direct us along the path to its fulfillment.
